For example, on The Center, you won't see a single wild creature under level 15, even though the bottom level should be 5. Therefore, creatures will spawn at the higher levels much more frequently. While the Center and Ragnarok don't offer dinos above level 150 - they *DO* break the balance by having their own individual difficulty multipliers which stack with the blanket setting. This means that theoretically, the lowest wild dino level is 5, and the highest is 150, with every creature in between being a product of 5.

The default Ark level system is levels 1 through 30 times the difficulty multiplier, which is 5 on officials. The worst part though? Definitely the difficulty offset. The easier the resources are to get, the more powerful the tribes on those maps become, and the more the mindset of 'it's smart to play on X map' roots itself in the community.

Resources are much more easily obtained on the mod maps. The reason is because of the game balance.

Both map makers pretty much ceased development after Wildcard adopted their maps in an official capacity, except the occasional pass over to accommodate new tames (bee hives for example) or to patch a lot of terrain bugs and exploits.Д®ven if the terrain itself in inferior in The Center and Ragnarok when compared to the four official maps, players will still flock to them. Ragnarok suffered from the same critical flaw that hurt The Center - namely that it was recognized as great before it was fully fleshed out.

With the addition of the new biomes it's just too small. Namely, it was originally designed prior to the implementation of the snow and swamp biomes.

Obviously the island is going to be superior since it was made in a professional setting, but it has some drawbacks. There's a few parts that each map gets right. However in terms of numbers of servers, I believe Ragnarok has more servers in existence than the Island (thats official and unofficial servers uses of those maps combined). Thus is a bit silly to say one is better than the other. In other words, both maps have their functions and merits and drawbacks.

Ragnarok is a free dlc map that used to be a mod map until it was bought out by Wildcard and the dev's of it hired to work for WC. Its meant to be limited in some ways and part of the cannonic progression and lore with the Ascension system. The island is a cannon map, being as well the first by WC and relatively the most hardware stable one. Rag also has unique dungeon bosses found on no other map. In addition to having most all the resources and creatures of both the island and scorched earth combined(sans the pheonix I believe), rag also has griffins, ice wyverns, and ice worms, which are not found on other dlc maps.ДҐ. It has arguably the most evenly distributed of set of resources.Д¤. It also has a multitude of caves in which to build bases, stone stalagtites and stalagmites and 2 different variations of trees on which platforms can be placed, and more.Дў. Rag has more surface area for building on and is considered a builders map. Some aspects of what you state are subjective.
